Coffee Mania

As part of my Christmas drive to save the economy, I bought an espresso machine and a good grinder. What fun! I've had a bit of trouble sleeping because of the increased caffeine in my life, but it's great fun making espressos and cappucinos and cafe au lait and all that. (I haven't tried a latte yet.) I'm pretty happy with the way the espressos are turning out, but I'm still working on being able to froth milk properly. I want to get it all nice and even and thick so that I can do latte art. :-)

Shouldn't that be 'espressi' and 'cappuccini'? :-)

Don't worry about the sleeping. You'll get used to all that wonderful caffeine soon, and then your body will start thinking of it as a sedative.

There is nothing more "nesty" than a couple buying their own espresso machine. We adore our little decaf lattes after dinner. It's somehow an intimate thing, because you don't foam milk for just anyone. And never for a crowd. Making them for the sweetie feels like such a tiny act of love, and the little different but matching cups make it just one of those 'us time' things.

Aw, that's sweet Alex. I haven't quite thought of it that way, but you're right, it's a special time together.

My favourite version is a nice espresso each while sharing a small amount of very nice chocolate.
