Vacant Property Insurance

I have learned lately that if you're going to insure a house nobody lives in, it's wayyyyyyyy more expensive than insuring one that's lived in. It's about 4.5 times more to insure an empty home, and that doesn't even cover the contents, which the old insurance did.

That's a lot! Do you think that the risk that something bad will happen to the house really is 5 times higher for a vacant house?
